Tyler, a native of Atlanta, says his passion for home furnishings and interior design began as a child where he worked at his mother’s antique store. Today, he sources, finds and sells vintage products to consumers and interior designers across the country. Tyler’s enthusiasm for historic preservation has created a wonderful beneficiary for the “Thrift with Tyler Goes North” bus tour. The event is sponsored by Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles, Atlanta Decorative Arts Center (ADAC) and AmericasMart, and proceeds benefit The Georgia Trust, which raises awareness for historic properties around Georgia in hopes of preserving the for years to come.
In a nutshell, thrifters board a luxury passenger coach and head to some of Tyler’s favorite thrifting and antiquing spots. Lunch is provided, along with a signature cocktail, and, of course, a swag bag filled with goodies. Tyler has obtained many of his finds for over a decade at the mixture of thrift stores and antique shops that the tour visits. He also shares tips and advice on how to source some great finds, pay bottom dollar and even how to make money as a hobby! There are always lots of raffle prizes donated by local businesses, and a portion of the ticket sales for the tour along with 100% of the proceeds from the raffle are donated to the Georgia Historic Trust, ensuring historic preservation in Georgia for years to come.
Sounds like a lot of fun? It was and the Queen of Hearts in Marietta loved being a stop on the tour and rolled out the red carpet to welcome everyone! The real Queen of Hearts, Stacey Anderson, stopped in and even helped serve lunch!
